The conclusion of my horrific experience with Sugar Land Vet "ER Specialists" is that they promote unethical business practices plus they are a racket against humanity. If you truly love your pet and want to save your pet and expect straight up answers PLEASSSSE stay away from this place. It was hands down the ultimate worst and most unethical and unprofessional experience of my life. I have never dealt with more incompetence. The "ER vet" we met with was sooooo shady. I knew more than he did and I had to question his answers and ethics. If you want inconsistency in getting an answer by asking a simple question - the exact same question - more than once then this is the place to go when your beloved pet is dying. They truly have no compassion for animals at all. It is strictly all business and making an extra buck. I was appalled at just how low they would go to make an extra buck. What a waste of time and $$$. They are comparable to a sleezy car salesman in a lab coat. Can they not read their own Xray? 1st they charge you an arm and a leg to take the Xray... then they have to send it out for a $200 fee to have someone read it for them? Did they only get a partial degree where teaching how to read Xrays was omitted? Why do they waste time and $ retaking Xrays and bloodwork you already have proof of? I will tell you exactly why... Again ~ This place is a racket against humanity and should be ashamed of themselves. Their so called ER is a joke and I am not laughing. They were so disorganized for lack of a stronger word. They called me to confirm received information from my primary vet and to bring my pet to ER then when arrive they have no paperwork on my pet at all. What kind of ER does this? No bedside manner whatsoever. No knowledge = just a guessing game even with test results right in front of their face. They played spin the wheel game on my dime and heartache/devastation. Everything was about $$$$$$ = Add on this test add on that test and still no definitive answers. They bold face lied to me. Had they had their way I would have had to sign over my house to pay what they wanted and I am positive they would have come back for more and still no answers. When we left there after dropping a ton of $$$ we knew nothing new. My primary who is not a specialist - as this place advertises - knew more than they did. I expected more from a so called ER Vet Specialist. PLEASSSSE READ all the bad reviews 1st. Those reviews outweigh the good in how this place "takes care of" your pet in dire need of help. In conclusion Sugar Land Vet ER Specialists are not in the business to save animals. Sugar Land Vet ER Specialists are all about the almighty buck and how full they can fill their pockets. Sugar Land Vet ER Specialists take full advantage of people who are in despair to save their beloved pet.

We have had several dogs there for special exams or surgeries, and the doctors were always passionate and knowledgeable. Today’s visit with Dr. Rosenthal was still excellent, but we had a very rude assistant Rachel yelling at us and purposely made things hard for us. She made us feel very unwelcome and clearly showed not ready to greet patient to create a good first impression for the hospital. I doubt if we’re going to drive all the way to Sugarland next time.

Do not, and I repeat DO NOT take your pet here!!! I never write reviews, but there was no way that I wasn’t going to warn people about this place. My precious little Shorkie dog who just turned one, was attacked at a park by much larger dog on Thursday, 3/12/26. This so-called animal hospital left me in a room for five hours and first told me it would be $1500 and I said I needed to go home and I could get $1000 right away. I drove 20 minutes home and came back and then the nose ring person came in the room and told me it was going to be almost $3000. They almost killed my dog!!!! The time wasted in that place set her back and all they did was wrap her and send me home with three doses of painkillers and told me that I needed to go somewhere immediately the next day and have her stitched up. This other dog ripped her open from one side of her stomach to the other, and it is truly a miracle that she is alive. It’s a miracle because of the place that I found the next day that wasn’t on one of the lists they gave me. The people that work at this place from the front desk to the doctor to the person with a nose ring were cold and heartless!!!!! The place is nothing but a money pit. They have zero compassion for your animals, and I mean ZERO!!!! They have absolutely no business working around or near animals. In fact, they have no business being around people, especially people who are suffering emotionally and filled with fear and worry for their precious animals. Please save your self time, money and possibly your pet’s life and go anywhere but there!!!! They charged me over $400 to wrap her and sent me home after five hours. The new place I found the next day was horrified how this FAKE animal hospital treated me and couldn’t believe how much money they charged me for doing absolutely nothing! I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!! This place, and these people, are frauds!!!! RUN!!

We are beyond grateful for this vet office and the incredible team that helped save our dog after he was hit by a car. From the moment we arrived, they acted quickly and calmly, giving him the urgent care he needed while keeping us informed every step of the way. They treated him with so much compassion and took the time to sit with us, explain our options, and make sure we focused on the treatments that were truly necessary while respecting our budget. We never felt pressured — only supported. Their skill, kindness, and professionalism made one of the scariest moments of our lives manageable. We will never forget what they did for our family. 🐾💙

They really care. Unfortunately, our dog didn't make it by the time we arrived to this Vet ER but the care and consideration of all the staff we dealt with was above and beyond. They were patient and understanding and well trained and professional. Even with all my tears and emotions I saw the quality, care and consideration. Yes, in general emergency care is / can be expensive (for humans or pets), but if in an emergency for our other dogs, I'd trust them 100%. Thank you to all the staff we dealt with 🙏🏻

We were referred to the oncology department for our baby Sophie after she was diagnosed with lymphoma. Every step of this journey has been smooth and informative. Dr. Novosad is friendly, knowledgeable and overall a great provider for our dog during this time of uncertainty. Tanya at the front desk has a great attitude, very professional. Christina also is an outstanding medical provider. We came here with high expectations from the great recommendation our vet provided. They have lived up to that 100%. I highly recommend the oncology department here!

HORRIBLE SERVICE!! Please do not bring your pets here! I came in just LAST NIGHT with my dog he was bleeding from his rear end and throwing up and before they even wanted to care for him all they were concerned about was the amount of money we would spend. We got there around 9 and did get put in a room pretty quickly, we spoke to the vet and discussed the situation my dog was in. As I said all they cared about was the money we would spend. She wrote down a couple of things and left. My dog was bleeding more and more so we asked for assistance. She took him to check his temperature, his breathing etc. She brought him back and again asked what we would spend. I agreed with the doctor seeing him for about $196, we went almost a WHOLE HOUR sitting in the room with not one check up on him. During that hour he bled out even more and was becoming more weak. I asked for assistance once again and for some water for my dog. She left after bringing the water, he started foaming from the mouth so ofc I ask for assistance. Mind you I had to practically bang on the door to get someone’s attention! She came in and took him, no communication as to what they were going to do with him. Later the doctor came in, once again the biggest concern how much would we be willing to pay. She said she’d bring out an estimate that took almost 40 minutes to bring back out to us. I had already said yes to the consultation and they had yet to go through with that. They had my dog for nearly two hours in the back with not one update for me. Another woman came in to give an estimate for everything they wanted to run on him, totaling to about 3k. Once I declined she offered to bring another estimate with what I wanted to get done to my dog. Again another hour of having not one update on my dog. I had to ask the lady at the front desk to please give me an update. That second estimate didn’t come until about an hour. When I asked for an update all they were doing with my dog was having him sit there with NO CARE. I asked for the work to be done so we could leave. It was about 2 am and that point. HOURS AND HOURS WITH NO COMMUNICATION!!! My dog now passed about 2 hours ago. I would never recommend this place to anyone who truly cares for their pets.

It has taken me a month to find the words to describe my feelings about my sweet Enzo’s passing. The loss has been profound, and putting my emotions into words has been a difficult journey. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the Oncology staff at Sugarland Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Novosad, Christina, Celeste, and Irene, your incredible support and veterinary care meant everything to both Enzo and me during this challenging time. I have never experienced another clinic where my pets enjoyed being there. I would wholeheartedly recommend Sugarland Veterinary Clinic to anyone. Their honesty, love, and unwavering support helped me care for my sweet Enzo right up until his final days. I am deeply grateful for everything you did for us.

I am sharing these details in hopes of helping this clinic out. I doubt that I will return to this clinic because multiple interactions in this six-hour visit gave me significant pause. That said, I do think the first group of people whose shift ended around 7pm (the vet tech, the counter person, and the doctor) were doing their best to provide good care for my pet and good customer service in general, but there was a stark difference when it came to people who work the shift directly after that. Pros: the first counter person and vet tech were very friendly and accommodating. The doctor seemed a bit tired, and she misunderstood some things about the details of my cat's records, but when I clarified the situation, she was open to that, and she was transparent about pricing. Cons: I was encouraged to leave for a couple hours (I had come at about 5, and they needed to run some tests, and they told me at 6pm that they would call me in a couple hours). I did receive a phone call around 8pm that they had done blood work, which came out fine, but my cat was uncooperative so they did not do a urine test. They could do a urine test if I asked for my cat to be sedated. I decided not to sedate my cat. I made an appointment for my cat to go to his original, non-emergency vet the following day for possible x-rays, something both the first doctor and the vet tech encouraged me to do. I am also a teacher whose work day begins at 7am, so I often get up at 4 am. For the time being, my cat was stable. I told the night person that I was there to pick up my cat. At about 8:30, she told me that the doctor would be with me shortly. A few minutes later, she clarified that I did not want the cat to be sedated for the urine test, and I verified that I did not. Then, I waited and waited. I heard multiple people getting their animals discharged to them. Then, at around 10pm, I told the night counter person that I was going to the restroom and said I felt like I was waiting quite a while. At one point after I left the restroom, I asked if she knew when I would get my cat back bc it was going on 10:15pm, and the doctor still had not talked to me. She said the doctor had a euthanasia appointment, which happened in the room right next to me. This meant I could hear their whole ordeal including the family crying. Keep in mind, none of the other 5+ rooms for clients to wait were occupied. I have empathy for the family who lost their pet, but why was I unnecessarily exposed to that? Around 10:40pm, I explained to the night counter person, who was rude with literal eye rolls and sighs when I asked about getting my cat and also getting some water (the day counter person actually offered me free bottled water earlier when she saw me get a drink at the vending machine, and I explained this to the night person), that I would be fine with a vet tech releasing my cat to me, but this was SIX hours after we first came in, so I did not understand why I was STILL waiting. By 11pm, the vet tech came in, had me sign some paperwork, and called my cat "very aggressive." My cat had a strange reaction to the first doctor. When she came to see me after taking his vitals, he shrunk low in his carrier--something I have not seen him do with anyone else ever. The vet he had seen 4 days before had called him "sweet" and a "great patient." When I took him to the vet the following day at the Houston Cat Hospital, I relayed what the night vet tech said and explained that in 4 years, I had not seen him act aggressively with any person. The vets at the cat hospital said that they did not see him as aggressive and that he had responded very well when they did his x-rays. All in all, I just think something was off at this clinic, especially when it comes to the night staff. I know they had a lot to deal with, but the customer service could have been much more mindful and positive when I returned.

Very dissapointed in this place to say the least and will not be returning. We brought our two year old dog in due to suspicion of kennel cough (shortness of breath, hacking, lethargy). We waited over an hour to be seen. Upon being seen by the female overnight vet onstaff, she met with us for about 10 min just to tell us there is nothing they can do beyond x-rays. We spent two hours and paid $200 just to be sent home, kept up all night by a sick dog, and back to a vet the next morning who actually took care of the issue. And yes, our dog did infact have a respratory infection and was treated properly. We will not be back.

I was referred by my vet for a transfusion because my corgi was severely anemic. My vet was not able to diagnose exactly what was wrong with her because she had blood in her abdomen and they couldn't see her organs clearly. I was just distraught when I arrived at Veterinary Specialists. The staff was Wonderful, They took her immediately to do tests because my vet had not sent any records of the 1,200.00 worth of tests my sweet Chica had just endured. I was not upset about the bill I had paid, it was the way I was treated by my let's staff. The vet didn't come to report what the results were afterward. They sent in an assistant who did his best to explain that I had to take Chica for a transfusion. I asked to speak to the vet but was told she was too upset. The guilt i felt was overwhelming, but Chica was more important. Veterinary Specialists examined Chica and an assistant came in to see if I was going to be able to pay for treatment. I said that I didn't really know what was wrong. Dr. Rhue came in and explained what she found during the exam. She asked if Chica had seen a vet in the prior two years and I explained that my regular vet had retired 2 years prior and sold his practice. I had taken Chica for shots to my younger daughter's vet and wasn't really happy. I had sold my house and moved so when Chica became sick I took her to my birds vet. ABC Animal and Pet. She was so understanding and when she explained that Chica had been bleeding into her abdomen for months. She took fluid from her abdomen and they blood level was 18%. I asked how much treatment would be and what the survival chances were. She was very honest and I realized I didn't have the funds and more importantly I didn't want Chica to suffer any more than she already experienced. I couldn't stop crying, feeling guilty that I didn't see how sick Chica was. She was so kind and suggested I take her home stop and get burgers and share them with my senior dog and Chica and I can have some quality time. She gave me some medicine to stop the bleeding. She told me if she had trouble breathing to bring her back immediately. I did just that and we had 4 hours of time that made the whole situation bearable. She did start breathing heavily and I took her back and the staff was Wonderful. Putting her down was horrible but I am So grateful for your establishment. Keep up the Wonderful job. I received a sympathy card from everyone who treated Chica that I will keep forever! ..I will send photos of my Chica to post with this review. Thank you so much!

Had to visit the ER with a sick cat that was experiencing side effects from taking Convenia (long lasting antibiotic). Her symptoms (vomiting, stomach pain, bloody stool, and weeping eyes) started withing 24 hours of taking the drug and matched the toxicology information listed by the drug manufacturer exactly. The doctor refused to even consider that our kitty could be having a negative reaction and instead wanted to perform unnecessary, expensive tests, including blood work, on our already sick kitty. This drug has only been FDA approved for 6 months (Jun 2025) so there is no way anyone could have much experience with it, yet the vet insisted she had. Her tests and proposed IV drip would have come out at $1000, so we opted for subcutaneous fluid instead for around $300. Typically this would be around $30 at the local vet. The vet got visibly angry when we refused the tests and the higher price tag. TLDR: Vets are ignorant, comfortable lying, and will do anything to get more money out of patients.

We had an amazing experience with this veterinary team…. the entire staff is incredible, from the receptionists to the neurology team. Everyone was kind, knowledgeable, and supportive during a very stressful time. They took excellent care of my French bulldog, Bentley. He was seen by the neurologist, Dr. DuPont, who did a fantastic job explaining everything and making us feel at ease. Bentley was diagnosed with a neck herniated disc (cervical IVDD), and Dr. DuPont is treating him with pain management and strict rest in hopes of avoiding surgery. We’ve been dealing with this since December 22nd, and it has been overwhelming, but thanks to the care and guidance we’ve received, we are very hopeful Bentley will make a full recovery. I’m truly grateful for the compassion and expertise shown to both Bentley and our family. Highly recommend!

Went into see them despite the TERRIBLE reviews and wow I was WRONG to trust them. If you’re in the area, go to VEG ER.. much better. We experienced mismanagement of our pet and experienced even worse customer service.

Even though 12/9/2025 was one of the worst days of my life finding out my dog is terminal and they could not do surgery on her, everyone here was great. We especially had a great experience with Dr. Kylee Walter. She presented us with all of our options and was very personable and understanding. We also had great experiences with everyone else we came into contact with in the ER section. We decided to bring her home and give her palliative care. We are so grateful for this place giving us answers even though it wasn’t what we were hoping for and also for getting her feeling better that day so we could bring her home and spend whatever time we have left with her.

After my sweet boy Tiny was diagnosed with Lymphoma, we were referred to Dr. Novosad and his loving team at SLVS. I was on the fence about treatment in the beginning but Christina was so helpful about educating me on what to expect. Because Tiny is a pitbull, I do get nervous bringing him around new people especially those pricking him with needles but he grew to LOVE every single person on the oncology team. They remembered him by name, gave him treats galore and gave me the peace of mind that he was in great hands. There were even multiple times where I would call to see if he was ready and the nurse would tell me that he was getting anxious in his kennel so they let him out to sit next to them. I pursued chemotherapy with Tiny for 10 months and it was as enjoyable as it possibly could’ve been. Unfortunately, we began running out of options and I decided to stop altogether. He crossed the rainbow bridge in October 🌈 Through it all Dr. Novosad was extremely knowledgeable, his team was professional and the entire hospital made us feel welcome. Tiny even had 2 emergency stays (damn grapes) while he was having treatment and the ER team was just as amazing. They lay out all the options for you, are honest about pricing, and very professional. If you are nervous about bringing your babies here, I can promise you won’t regret it!

Never again. And I mean never. My dog couldn’t keep anything down. Water or food. My vet was closed and this was the closest and open 24 hours. The wait was worst. I arrived at around 7:20ish and didn’t see anyone until around 8:30. While waiting I had to take my dog outside because she got sick again and afterwards I just had to go back inside and wait. No one asked if she was ok and if I needed anything. When I finally got inside a room, They told me my dog needed a mandatory Parvo test. Understandable, but I knew she didn’t have it and the test was going to run me another $100+ in top of the checkup fee. After they did the test and ran her diagnostics I sat in the waiting room for 2 hours waiting for a vet. It all seems like a big money grab with all the tests they wanted to do and X-rays for a dog that had an upset stomach and more than likely needed some medicine to help her keep everything down. And when the vet finally arrived she just didn’t seem like she wanted to be there at all. Don’t waste your time or money going over here. I would strongly not recommend them. Just find another place. Over three hours waiting and walked away with little to no help. I scheduled an appointment with her vet for the next day and just gave up on them all together. I’m grateful my dog didn’t have anything serious because who knows what would have happened.

Extremely Distressing and Unethical Experience — Do Not Bring Your Pet Here in a Dire Situation We had a terrifying experience at this emergency vet on Saturday with our Pomeranian puppy. He was lethargic, non-responsive, and drooling, so we rushed him in fearing the worst. Before any treatment could be done, we were told we had to pay upfront, which immediately made the entire experience feel like a money grab rather than care focused on our pet’s wellbeing. We paid $1,300 for X-rays and blood work, yet were given no clear explanation for why our puppy was sick. After waiting for hours, the doctor told us our puppy had food/fluid in his lungs, was having trouble breathing, and needed oxygen. We were told he would be suffering without oxygen. At that same time, the doctor also mentioned that his blood work showed low blood sugar. Despite this, the overall message we were given was that our puppy was dying, and we were then asked for an additional $3,000 to keep him overnight. When we explained that we could not afford the $3,000, the doctor told us the best option was to put him down. As a family, we were absolutely devastated and genuinely began considering euthanasia based solely on how serious and hopeless the situation was made to seem. Later, a nurse came in and gave us another option — to take our puppy home. When he was brought out for discharge, he looked completely normal. To make matters worse, we were told we would receive copies of the radiographs/X-rays, but as of now we have not received them. It felt incredibly unethical and cruel to tell a desperate family that their puppy would suffer or die without oxygen, suggest euthanasia, and apply intense financial pressure, only for him to appear fine shortly afterward. It also felt like they were taking advantage of the fact that it was a weekend emergency when families are at their most vulnerable. For a facility that claims to have specialists, the inability — or unwillingness — to clearly explain the root cause of our puppy’s condition is alarming. We spent 4hrs there just to get an unclear diagnosis and $1300 out of our pockets. We nursed him back to health all Sunday, which he looked to be getting better. We then took him to our local vet and he said that our puppy looks normal. The only thing he could spot was that he had a cold/runny nose. Our puppy is now doing well and back to his normal self. Based on our experience, I strongly urge pet owners not to bring their pet here, especially in a dire or emergency situation. Please seek a second opinion if you are able.

Very vague and unclear about the charges up front. Charged me $290 for a paw x-ray never mentioned any other charges for preparing before the x-ray which turned out to be $150 + $184 for consultation + almost $70 for 10 pain killer pills. Then wanted to convince me to send the x-ray to another doctor and charge me another $190 on top of everything because they weren’t sure about what they saw in the picture. After I paid the person at the front desk he would not give me an itemized receipt for my payment. Basically they were trying to charge me a total of $856.00 for one X-ray. (Shame on you) Will never go there again, but I had to since my vet was closed.

This place is terrible. We got referred here from our vet for imaging for a mass my dog has around his eye since our vet doesn’t have imaging we needed. Had an appointment for 9:15 got there early but still sat around for 15- 20 min after my appointment time… finally take us to the back and a tech asks us a bunch of asinine questions that were already answered with the referral from our vet / and the questions my husband answered online… then they take my dog away for” vitals” and was told the vet will be in in a few minutes…. I hear my dog yelping and they come in and tell me it is because they had to kennel him and the vet will be in soon … 15-20 more minutes of the staff laughing / cackling while I can hear my dog yelping… and the tech comes in again and brings my dog and explained my dog was upset because the vet game him a “rectal exam”… what kind of vet gives an animal a rectal exam before even meeting the dog mom / dad (and what vet does this without communicating what was going on)…especially since we are in for imaging of an EYE / facial mass. By this time it was almost a hour past my appointment time and I ask how much longer it would be to see the vet… again I am told 5-10 min….20 min later the vet finally shows up and starts asking the same questions the tech asked… I tell him that there appears to be some miscommunication and that the main reason we are here is for imaging and the communication has not been good… his response was “what did you expect”… no I am sorry about the extended wait or sorry that we didn’t communicate what was going on. I decided to walk out as I have never been treated so poorly at a vet clinic (and we have multiple animals for 40 plus years)… and I certainly wouldn’t want them to treat my dog. I have never experienced this level of ineptitude and lack of communication. Whoever owns this place should know how the people working there (including the rude vet who gave my dog a rectal exam without even introducing himself) treat clients. Avoid at all costs!!!

My dumb dog decided to ruin our cookie baking plans and downed a pound of chocolate. He was seen immediately and received excellent care. They were very busy and therefore I didn't get answers right away. But i completely understand there were many other sick pets that need their attention first and I understood why i was waiting. The communication was excellent, the staff was very compassionate. They explained the prices very well and I do not feel they were just trying to take my money. Services cost money and the service was excellent. No one wants to come to the emergency room, but I'm glad this was the one I came to this time. My pup is doing great now and SLVS is the reason, Thank you thank you!

I visited SLVS ER on Saturday, and even though the ER was clearly very busy, Johnah was incredibly attentive, patient, and helpful the entire time. She made sure I understood everything that was going on and never made me feel rushed. The ER staff as a whole was kind, professional, and reassuring, which made a stressful situation so much easier. I truly appreciated the care I received and would absolutely recommend SLVS ER to anyone needing emergency treatment.

They took great care of my baby and came up with a course of action in a timely manner. The vet on staff explained the symptoms and plan well. A great plus is they’re open on holidays!

I realize it may seem cliché to turn to Google to “vent” about a difficult experience, but my goal is to make this review as balanced and constructive as possible. First, I want to emphasize that working with Dr. DuPont has been a genuinely positive experience. She helped us get our husky’s seizures into better control. While he is still having episodes, we are now able to interrupt them sooner and he goes longer between them, which we view as meaningful progress. I was especially impressed during our first visit. After I informed the front office that he was almost certain to seize the moment we walked through the door, the team proactively prepared medication and staff to intervene. They also completed his follow-up phenobarbital labs quickly and efficiently. On the other hand, we began noticing some cost discrepancies when comparing certain services with other veterinary neurology clinics. For instance, phenobarbital level testing was quoted to us at around $600, whereas comparable neurology practices charge closer to $150. The Midazolam refills were also priced significantly higher than what could be obtained through a pharmacy like H-E-B. We did not initially question these things, but after researching further, they became concerns. However, the primary reason for my 2-star review relates to an interaction that occurred yesterday and today regarding a Midazolam refill. When I called yesterday, I spoke with Josh, who was professional, polite, and solutions oriented. He explained limitations clearly, looked into what he could, and followed up promptly to let me know the refill was ready. I truly appreciated his approach. Today was a different experience. When I called to confirm whether I could quickly pick up the medication on my way to another errand, I was told this was not possible. The team lead I spoke with, Billie, communicated in a manner that felt dismissive and unnecessarily condescending. Despite explaining that I am a doctor and familiar with DEA scheduled substances, and noting that my husband is a clinical pharmacist, her responses came across as if she were speaking to someone unfamiliar with basic procedures. My goal was simply to ask clarifying questions, but the tone and delivery made the interaction feel unnecessarily adversarial. I fully understand and respect that the clinic manages emergencies and cannot always accommodate on the spot requests. My concern is not the policy itself, it is how the information was conveyed. Had the interaction mirrored the solutions focused and respectful approach that Josh modeled, I would have been far more understanding of the limitations. Unfortunately, the way the conversation unfolded made it clear that our customer experience was not a priority in that moment. It is entirely possible that today was simply an off day for that staff member. However, given this experience, we have decided to transition to another clinic. I share this feedback not to disparage the clinic as a whole, but with the hope that it might support improvements in communication and customer service moving forward.

We were referred to Dr. Dupont by our vet for a suspected case of nerve damage in our pup's neck. After an MRI, it turned out that he has another ailment in his shoulder that is not surgical. Dr. Dupont and her team walked us through every step and what should be our next plan of attack. They were extremely thorough, explained everything to us in terms we could understand, and most importantly, showed compassion and care for our pup as if he was one of their own. If I have to go back to a specialty vet, I would 100% choose Sugarland over and over again!

Our dog is a neurology patient here and we have also used the emergency service a few times. They have done a great job getting our dog's epilepsy under control. The emergency room staff is always compassionate and takes time to explain everything, making a stressful situation much easier. On one occasion, our dog experienced several clusters of seizures over 12 hours, and the staff was very gracious in providing multiple emergency interventions during that period. Our dog has been seizure-free since that day (five months ago) and we are very happy with this facility's management of our dog's epilepsy.

After reading some of the reviews, I’ll admit I was a little hesitant to bring my pet here—but I’m so glad I did! From my very first phone call to walking through the doors, I was treated with nothing but kindness and respect. I spoke with Johnah on the phone and was happy to meet her smiling face at the front desk. She took the time to explain everything clearly and helped calm my nerves. The technicians were incredibly transparent, gentle, and attentive throughout the entire visit. I truly appreciate the compassion and care shown to my sweet boy, Jax. Thank you all for going above and beyond—you’ve definitely earned my trust (and Jax’s tail wags)! 🐾💙

If you love your animal. DO NOT COME HERE! My dog was taken in for an emergency on Friday night/early Saturday morning and this visit was a mess. They claimed to be “busy” when there was barely anyone here. The specialists who were giving care to my my dog didn’t know how to explain what was wrong with my dog eye and were inputting the incorrect information on his chart saying his right eye was the injured eye when it indeed was not. We expressed concerns that the other eye may be having a similar issue as well and we were completely ignored and dismissed. My assumption is that when an animal has an injury especially to their eye you would inspect both eyes. Instead they disregarded looking at his other eye so in all honestly who knows if it spread or not and the laziness of not checking probably is what led to their mistakes in his chart on which eye was injured because they couldn’t tell!! I take my pets health very seriously meaning I do not tolerate any mistakes when I’m taking my animal for help regarding their health. If the roles were reversed and a doctor inputted your information wrong as a human it would lead to a lawsuit or malpractice so why not treat an animal the same. The urgency and professionalism was no where to be seen. My dog was also given a medication that made him feel worse. I paid $60 for extra medication to relieve him when it did the opposite. This establishment needs a refresher on their values and what their purpose and role is in this business. Calling to hear answers about my dogs condition and hearing “I’m not sure how to explain this” or “I can’t provide you details” because you are uneducated in your role or “don’t have the full story/information” is a disservice to all current and future customers. The same way we expect the best care in our human lives we should reciprocate that with our furry friends. Being “busy” is no excuse for subpar care, mistakes on a chart, or no information at all. I do not put a price on my animals care as he is important to me but $400 for a horrid experience and medication that made my animal worse with projectile vomit and diarrhea is unacceptable. Do better, and improve your service with our furry friends and their owners. To this business: if you want to fix this you can contact us through your records, not an automated response. *note this is not my primary vet, my vet is closed all weekend so this is based off an emergency experience and I will be taking my dog to their primary vet to ensure everything is okay as soon as they open*

Initially I called the vet and was nervous as i've never done it before. But I spoke with Johnah and she was so empathetic with me in explaining the process in the nicest way. Once I came in her patience was exceptional even though I could see how chaotic it could have been at the time. I appreciate her making the usual stressful veterinary visit very smooth.

Worse front staff ever. Rude in person. They have signs posted about how they don’t tolerate mistreatment of their staff, but I guess it doesn’t go both ways. I was left on hold for 30mins. Trying to get a referral sent over to a specialist. I finally gave up. My poor dog will be dead waiting on them. No respect for others time and they talk over then place you back on hold. The doctors are nice but because of the front staff I will only give 1 star!

Came in over the weekend and had such a good experience! Dr. Briggs was great — really caring, explained everything clearly, and treated my pet like her own. Johnah at the front desk was amazing — she was running things by herself and still made sure everyone and their pets were taken care of. Super friendly and patient even with how busy it was.. Couldn’t have asked for better service all around! Thank you SLVS!

Our Chiwanee was diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma in July. Well, it was very difficult to get an appointment for oncologists so we decided to take him in Vet ER hospital. Dr Dever did more test and set us up within two weeks to see 🏥 the oncologists Dr Novasad. She was an excellent ER doctor as I’ll rate her. Another ER doctor is Dr Ashley Parker- she is the best. She took time on her own to see the history of my furry baby since he was on chemo in the same facility on 2 nd floor. We were so distraught that after 4 th chemo, why was our baby so much in pain, fever and slow breathing. She realized that trauma and took an ultrasound which was scheduled at 6 th week, and showed that he has started organ failure. ( not sure on medical terms). But my son who is a psychiatrist was made to understand all the medical situation. At that point, we knew we had no other choice but to give him a humane freedom from this pain. Losing a furry baby is the hardest trauma I’ve been through, and I’m writing this after three weeks mustering the courage to help others who need VET ER. I felt I owed it to everyone who is considering choosing a good Veterinary ER hospital.

Even though they were not my GS regular vet, it’s the place I took my GS after she had died to get cremated. One of the hardest and saddest thing I had to do after having her for 9 yrs. I went ok a little past midnight and they were so compassionate and nice, they handle the whole thing with situation to respectfully. After I walked away I thought that was the end, until I recently received a card with the entire staff condolences. What a touching gesture, OMG!!. It really touch me heart. I promise you when I’m ready to be a dog lol again Sugarland Veterinary will be my new place for my furry pet. Thank you so much

After the vets suspected our fur baby, Moon, had lymphoma, we went to Sugarland Veterinary Specialists for oncology and a clearer prognosis. We chose steroids to give her the happiest last few months possible. Throughout that time, Dr. Novasad and his team were incredibly patient, compassionate, responsive, and knowledgeable — always taking the time to answer my many questions and gently guiding us through every step of Moon’s care. In Moon’s final days, Nurse Christina stayed on the phone with me for 45 minutes, gently helping me understand what was happening and find the courage for next steps with Moon. Moon recently crossed the rainbow bridge at home, after a joyful feast, surrounded by her family and her favorite toys. We are forever grateful to the staff for helping us give Moon so many good days, full of love and as painless as possible. Thank you for helping us give her a final “Goodnight, Moon" filled with peace, comfort, and love.

The doctors and staff took amazing care of our dog. They were so caring of our dog and so sweet with us.

The worst vet ever. We discussed a treatment plan for my cat to put him in a fasted state since he ate something poisonous and he kept on throwing up for two days to find out what was the issue going on. And without even informing us they fed him and kept giving him anti nausea medications. And worst of all they almost charged us 4k for two

If I could give 0 stars, I would. This facility is absolutely disgusting and Jessica Anderson is a very bad doctor - I wouldn't even trust a stuffed animal to be safe with her in this facility. Here is the summary of my experience. - cat throws up. - bring the cat to the clinic. - they charge me 1100$ for routine tests. - anderson suggests to keep the cat fasted for 10-12 hours and repeat the test at 12pm - according to anderson, the cat will be only given iv fluids during this 12hrs. - i say ok and pay 2200$. What actually happened: - i call to check on my pet at 6:15pm. - anderson calls me back around 7:40pm. - tells me they fed the cat at 6pm - she didn't tell me for 90+ mins after the event. - i pick up my cat and they further tell me that they also gave nausea meds without telling me. - this is again not the conversation that I had with jessica. Mind you, a fasting cat is fed. If this were a fasted human, the nurses would lose their license. Even the nurses here are not very educated and lack basic reading comprehension since they can't tell the difference between fasted vs not. I think a lot of people working here might not be properly licensed. Regardless, I tell Anderson, Heather (she is also not very bright) and the manager with the forgettable name to issue me a full refund for the services since I did not pay for what my cat received. They do not issue me a refund and I am ultimately left to escalate by reporting jessica to the vet board and leaving this review. If you love your pet, skip this facility.

The vet Dr Autufat was wonderful! Took plenty of time to talk to me and explain different avenues we could take for my cat. Her tech was so sweet! I don’t remember her name, but she was so warm and sympathetic!

The cost of tests and visit was so high I could not even make a decision for care for her. The tests were over $2000 and the medical care they recommended was over $15,000 to start. I was terrified for my precious dog and she was very sick but they could not give me any clue as to a diagnosis or prognosis. But the estimates were terrifying. After 1 night in hospital and tests I took her back - I told them I could not afford more and that they had made me feel terrible for not being able to give her enough care. This cost me over $6000! I felt so helpless and stupid. The staff was nice - the dr. nice and I am sure qualified. but their priority was money and not care or even talking in a way to encourage or help to make major decisions. I lost my girl, she was very ill, but they called me 5 days later to say some of her tests came in. they never called me in the 5 days to check or care about her.

Dr. Kelsey Arrufat was incredibly kind and compassionate. Although our dog received a very difficult diagnosis, she delivered the news with genuine care and sensitivity. It is clear that Dr. Arrufat truly cares about the well-being of her patients and their families. She took the time to explain all of our options, provided her professional opinion, and even followed up with us after we had MRI testing done at another clinic to share her thoughts. Dr. Arrufat was incredibly honest as well. We are very grateful for her support during such a hard time and would highly recommend Sugar Land Veterinary Specialists & Emergency Care.

Great facility for specialty and emergency care. Very compassionate, knowledgeable with great imaging diagnostic equipment and outstanding surgeons. Dr Bubenik is truly outstanding. They saved Rosie’s life after a very large mass was found on her spleen and surgery was a must. Fortunately, it was benign. I truly appreciated how the vets and staff kept us apprised during every step from diagnostic imaging to surgery to recovery. They have the capacity for overnight stays and I even got sent a picture of our sweet girl after she woke up from surgery. I 100% recommend them and trust their skill set and up to date knowledge on splenic tumors. I never felt rushed when asking questions and I felt they were very professional and again, compassionate. Rosie’s doing great after surgery!! The Schack-Pautler family
