This has nothing to do with quality of care but rather the operations of an emergency clinic. - It is street parking only - You cannot accompany your pet you any examination because they are “not set up for it”. We live four blocks away, drove to VEG instead.

I had an exceptional experience at Emerald City Emergency Clinic. From the moment I walked in, David at the front desk made me feel at ease with his helpful and comforting demeanour. His reassurance set the tone for the entire visit. Doctor Daniel Mullins was both informative and encouraging, taking the time to walk me through each step of the process. I especially appreciated how prompt he was in updating me on my situation, ensuring I always knew what was happening next. It was clear that he truly advocates for his furry patients, recommending only what is necessary without unnecessarily running up the bill. The clinic’s approach is professional and compassionate. They focus on doing what is right for your pet’s health while keeping things transparent and reasonable. I left feeling confident and supported—highly recommend this clinic for anyone seeking trustworthy and considerate emergency care! We are happy that Betty is home earlier than expected and recovering.

Pretty useless hospital that just wants to take your money from you. My dog got the cherry eye and the vet in this hospital scared the me death about my pup's condition saying he needs surgery and charged me $$$ for it without doing anything. My primary vet said it's nothinf to worry about and don't need surgery for another 3-4 months. Avoid this place if u can!

David at the front desk took my emergency seriously, and escalated my issue and was seen within 5 minutes. SUPER good care by Dr. Zaragoza, my puppies were OK and ECEC brought me peace of mind. Thank you!

The waiting rooms were nice, comforting, and relaxing while my Dog was evaluated. The vet very clear and warm hearted when she came to talk to me about my dogs situation. I highly recommend Emerald city emergency clinic. I trust them with my pup.

I had to visit Emerald City Emergency Clinic at midnight on a Tuesday for what was, admittedly, a ridiculous reason. My dog had just been neutered and managed to get around the soft collar we had put him in and we couldn't get him back into his hard plastic collar...even the attempt was a disaster. So down to the E-Vet we went. The front desk staff was kind, speedy, and professional and one of the vet techs was able to get the hard collar on in about 60 seconds; no screaming, peeing on the floor, or running around (from her or the dog). They even were incredibly generous and didn't bill us since they were able to fix the issue quickly and without involving the veterinarian. Absolutely wonderful experience.

Jonathon was extremely helpful, compassionate and supportive during our visits to pet emergency. We went through a roller coaster of emotions while our pet was in need, but Jonathon’s positivity and support were extremely reassuring. He even went out of his way to explain Care Credit to my spouse and I which we signed up for immediately after our visit. It will always be challenging to see our beloved pet deal with health concerns. But it was reassuring to know he was in good care with Jonathon!

Dr. Zaragoza was very thorough in explaining all that was going on with my dog Dozer, he is well and I appreciate this clinic so much. (2026) Also, in 2023 I had another dog (Zoey) and they had helped with her end of life care before she passed. Very compassionate clinic, definitely would recommend.

The veterinary care our dog received was exceptional. Every member of the team showed genuine compassion and took the time to clearly explain what was happening when our dog had an infection requiring emergency surgery. Having only rescued our pup two days earlier, we were overwhelmed and scared, but Dr. Fukuzato walked us through everything in a way that was easy to understand. She presented several treatment options without any pressure. Surgery happened the same day, and our dog was back with us the next morning in much better shape. They were also readily available for aftercare support. We’re deeply grateful to Dr. Fukuzato and the entire team and highly recommend them.

On Tuesday, February 10, I took my puppy here because it was the closest clinic to me as I have just moved to Seattle the day prior and my dogs hernia repair incision was looking like it could possibly be infected. He also had a lot of sniffles going on so I didn’t know if maybe he had kennel cough As well since I had to put him in daycare for a few days during our move. Anyways, I took my dog here and they gave him a look And told me that they would recommend that they x-ray him because he could potentially have pneumonia and things weren’t looking good for him. Not really feeling like I had an option, I asked how much would that be and they told me that my estimate bill would be $1100… They were making it seem like I should be really concerned and worried about him and that he’s showing signs of illness so I told them to go ahead and do what they needed to do and about an hour later the doctor calls me and told me that my dog is actually fine and I just need to give him some people Benadryl And that his wound is not infected. They diagnosed it as seroma and it should go away on its own in a few months…? They just told me that he needs to wear a cone 24/7 for the next seven days. It’s now the 15th he’s been wearing a cone 24/7 and his incision looks worse now. I called to get a follow up opinion and texted them a picture of what his incision looks like now and they just told me they don’t like the way it looks. I wish they would’ve just correctly diagnosed it at the time and prescribed me antibiotics or topical ointment to fix the problem not just let it fester. For paying over a grand, you would think that they would actually give me something helpful. My entire experience with this clinic has not been amazing. It seems like they only want your money. I feel like I was taking advantage of and made to feel as if his condition was a lot worse than what it actually was in order to get me to pay more for them to Improperly diagnose him. I would absolutely not recommend this place. They only want your money. It seems like I’m not the first person that has had this experience as well according to other reviews.

I chose I won't city emergency clinic to handle the after life of a family pet princess. They were very understanding in the fact I was dealing with the loss of what was a family member They were kind soft spoken and wanted to make sure that I was taken care of. They were fast on getting princesses ashes back home to my family. It's nice to know that there is a place that is open 24 hours when you need them. If you guys are going through the loss of a pet I highly suggest these guys they will take great care of you 100%

After returning from a walk, my dog was pacing and panting, and wasn't interested in a treat, or milk. i know my dog and this was serious. i live near Greenlake. Evergreen City Vet is nearby so i took him there immediately. i rang the doorbell and was let inside. i was told to sit in the waiting area. i waited for 45 minutes and NO ONE CAME! i left and within 25 minutes i had arrived at S Seattle Vet Hospital. my dog was immediately taken to the exam area and required an overnight stay. I will NEVER, EVER take my dog to ECVH.

After being in 3 vets in 7 days and 2 states., we were glad to be here. All of the staff was very kind and helpful. The wait was minimal and comfy in separate rooms. Dr. Zaragoza was fantastic and even called later to check on our dog. Highly recommend.

Had a ball? Or two? My dog Moose, we have learned, ate two balls. The staff is super caring and as comical as I am at 12:45 in the morning as I’m here learning of the predicament I can say I hope to never have to come back BUT if Moose is so inclined for late night doc visits again, this will be the first stop

All emergency vets are stressful, not places you’d ever want to be, and inherently expensive. I won’t lie about the charges I paid to take my cat here, but the receptionists + doctors were incredibly attentive, communicative, and helpful in getting my cat the emergency care he needed. I’m incredibly grateful for the staff and doctors who made sure my cat was safe and stable—this place was a safe spot to bring my little guy & while it’s probably not the cheapest place in the city to bring a pet during an emergency, I feel lucky that he had such kind, gentle, and knowledgeable doctors and staff around him. They called and texted me with updates, sent me photos of my cat, answered my countless stressed-out, mid-sob questions, and consulted with me before administering any new treatments, medications, or procedures. I understood my bill before paying, was told when new treatments would increase that total amount, and wasn’t charged more than we had communicated about when he was admitted to their hospital. Just as an FYI, if you bring your pet in and end up having to bring them back, if you get them back in before the end of a doctor’s shift that day, they will not charge you for another emergency check-up, which I feel is very thoughtful and reasonable of them. The office did not try to convince me to do procedures or tests that they did not feel were necessary, and made sure I understood all risks and benefits of all of ways they were administering treatment. I can’t say I enjoyed being here but that is because of the situation they were helping me with. And god forbid if someone I know needed an emergency vet, I would recommend this place. Thank you to this clinic so so much for all of your help making sure my cat got home safe and healthy!

Called for some advice and did not like the communication style of the front desk. They told me to come in but I said I would let them know, by gut told me not to. Glad I didn't after perusing the many 1 star reviews. Check out other clinics y'all.

I'm so grateful for the Emerald City Emergency Clinic. While driving nearby we found a deeply injured raccoon, probably struck by a car, that needed urgent attention. The team here assessed the raccoon and humanely euthanized him. Thank you for taking time out of your evening to help end this animal's suffering 💛.

These people are kind and compassionate. We found a raccoon in the road still alive and severely injured after having been hit by a car. They took time out of their very busy evening to help us assess the situation and connect us with sources of help. He was eventually humanely euthanized and we were grateful his suffering ended. Appreciate their willingness to go out of their way to help.

Our dog got attacked by another dog and did some serious damage to our dog’s throat. We immediately drove to emerald city emergency clinic and they were able to get our dog in right away and start to stitch her up. Every staff member there made us feel welcome, walked us through everything, and were able to get her stitched up quickly. They were great at explaining next steps and even when we called the next day they were incredibly helpful. Thank you to everyone at Emerald City for taking such good care of our dog!

I have my terrified pup here at Emerald City Emergency Clinic. Dr. Stankowiak, Kendra and Paige helped him with some great medications that made him feel at ease. We were able to perform the treatments on him he needed and he was comfortable with the team. Thank you team Emerald City.

Everyone at Emerald City were very empathetic and kind. They helped my cat get medicine for her injury and were experts at dealing with difficult kitties.

X-ray's are almost 2.5x-3x market rate here, and the service is really bad depending on the vet you get. The vet (Emily) didn't really make me feel like I could trust her with her lack of words/communication throughout the entire process which I felt was unprofessional since real doctors do this. I genuinely did not trust the vet based on the cash grab vibe That being said, I don't blame the vet personally, just seems like a clinic that functions more like a business. I would've been comfortable paying if the service was better

My cat Jerry developed pancreatitis. It was pretty severe and he required hospitalization. The amazing doctors at this hospital saved his life. He is now doing very well and has totally normal bloodwork! You are ALL amazing!

Forever grateful for this clinic, its administrator Kirstin and Dr. Jordan Stankowiak. After thousands at another vet hospital that ended with no diagnosis I spent an hour reading reviews to find another clinic that I could go to and have faith in while now on a tight budget but needing to save my baby. I stumbled upon the reviews for Emerald City Vet and the kind words about the hospital administrator, Kirstin and took my chances. They took my sweet boy in overnight, the receptionist extended the pick-up hrs for me and the drs called me every couple hours with updates. Dr. Jordan Stankowiak ended up being the Dr to diagnose him and he was so kind and patient on the phone every time, answering my 100 questions. My cat ended up being diagnosed with FIP so is on 12-weeks of expensive medicine. I called Jordan after a couple weeks to see the urgency of a check up at his primary vet because I am trying to put all extra money towards the medicine for now. He kindly told me to cancel his vet appointment and just bring him back to him same day for a free check-up. He not only did a basic check and weight check but also made sure he had no more fluid left in his abdomen because he knew how paranoid that was making me. He told me while he is on the medicine I can bring him back every few weeks to the clinic to make sure he is responding well and getting better. I will forever be thankful I found this place and for Dr. Jordan Stankowiak! Also if you have kiddos with you - this place will provide amazing snacks - another bonus :-)

I lost 3 pets this year. Two of them were cared for by the staff at Emerald city. My ex wasn't taking care of our dog and I had taken him back to get him the care he needed, upon listing his symptoms to another vet, I was told I needed to take him to an emergency vet. I was in a panic when I brought him in, and when the prognosis wasn't good they were so kind and compationate to me, giving me time to make hard decisions and process what was happening. A few months later my 18 year old cat started showing sign of being ready to pass. Because they took such good care of me here with Monty, I brought my cat Carmella here to be laid to rest. I interacted with different people with this visit and they were just as kind and compassionate. I don't remember his name but when one of the vet techs called to tell me Carmellas ashes were ready, he stated he remembered me coming in with Monty and just wanted to say he was so sorry I was having such a rough year. That man deserves a raise, he was so kind with Monty and his kindness really soften a devastating blow as Monty could have had several more years of life in him. Thank you for handling my fur babies with such dignity and compassion, I cannot express how much it means to me.

At around 4:30 in the morning, I brought my 11 year-old dog in who out of the blue was having extreme vomiting and diarrhea issues. After waiting for a diagnosis someone came in with a paper saying I could pay around 3500 for treatment or if more was needed the estimate would be around 4500. Before I paid anything, I asked if my dog was going to be OK or if I should instead put her to sleep. I was told my dog would be OK, but she had pancreatitis and they would need to keep her over the next night. The next day I was told I could pick her up between 10 and 12. Wanting her to get as much care as possible. I waited until 12. I was in contact with the clinic during this time, though. After waiting in the office for about an hour and a half, they finally brought her out and told me she would be fine, I just needed to change her diet. And if I wanted, I could buy some of the cans of food there. I said yes, I would do that. I then got another bill for around 1500. I said that’s a little expensive for food and was told that was for some other treatments. None of which they asked me if they could do. I took my dog home and within two months I had to euthanize her. She had acute leukemia and was suffering. Had I known this originally I would never have paid almost $6000. I love my dog, but I also didn’t want her to suffer and I am extremely disappointed in this clinic for telling me my dog would be fine, and having to pay so much when she should have just been euthanized then. on a side note, all of the staff is very young and I don’t think have enough experience. Including the person who wanted me to pay the extra amount the last day, who had no idea what it was for, and had to go ask.

We had a really good (as good as a pet emergency can be!) experience with this clinic. The staff were kind and communicative. Dr Stankowiak was very reassuring and explained things very clearly to us, from testing to diagnosis to costs. We felt that our cat got the best possible care here. Thank you to all of the staff!

I took my sick cat here and I had a really great experience. The team was so kind and informative, they were so communicative about the price of treatments, and my cat felt so much better after he was in their care. They had a ton of resources for payment plans and insurance options and were fully transparent about the price of treatments. I have a very nervous/occasionally fear aggressive cat and the staff said he was very tolerant of all of the treatments they did. One of the best possible options for a midnight ER trip!!

I took my cat here twice. Once for an eye injury from a cat fight and another time for a broken leg. They were quick to get us in and get him on pain meds right away. They brought us into a private waiting room, which was really helpful to have a space to wait quietly. They also had snacks, water, and tea available during our wait. They were really communicative even though they were incredibly busy. We had a long wait time the second time (2-3 hours) but they had more urgent cases to treat beforehand, which is how it should be. Each time the vet came into the room and explained exactly what was going on and what treatment they were looking at as well as cost estimates for everything. They got our consent and gave us a cost estimate before doing any treatment. The vet said we could call at any time day or night with any questions and they did a great job of answering all of our questions and explaining in detail exactly why they were doing each item they billed for. Our cat had to stay overnight and we worked with both the daytime and nighttime vets...both of whom were very kind and detailed. We had a great experience overall. Emergency visits are scary and costly, but everyone working there did a great job of staying calm and communicating with us in a compassionate and informed way.

My puppy was hit by a car. I called Emerald City within minutes of the accident to ask if they were available (they were) and we rushed over. Our puppy spent 48 hours at Emerald City in the oxygen cage and was treated by three separate doctors. We received numerous phone updates, photos of our little guy, and a diagnosis giving us a path forward. They worked with us afterwards to prescribe additional medication and send our puppy's file to various specialists. I am confident that our puppy received the best care and turned one of the worst days around. I am very grateful to Doctors Stankowiak, Zaragoza, and Mullins as well as Julian at the front desk. Thanks for taking care of our puppy! FYI this is the second time we have visited Emerald City, our first visit was two years ago with our prior dog for anaphylaxis from bee stings. Our experience was similar that time as well. While we hope to not have another emergency, we are very grateful to have this excellent clinic in the neighborhood. Thank you

I woke up to my cat Frank, lethargic, vomiting, unable to use the bathroom and refusing to eat, I brought him in and was given the devastating news that he had a blocked urethra and a concerning heart arrhythmia, if left untreated it would kill him. I was given an estimate that was far beyond my budget, I live alone, I work 2 jobs and soon I am starting a 3rd job, I have no family here, leaving my cat and dog to be my only family, the only ones I come home to after work, the ones that get me to wake up everyday and do my best to give them the life they deserve, and suddenly I feel as though I have let my boy Frank down knowing I cant help him. I spent hours applying and calling for loans, credit care and was denied due to some recent financial hardship and my own health declining, at the end the only option was euthanasia, i felt the world around me collapse and was inconsolable, Frank is only 3 years old, he is sweetest, most lovable guy, hes shy and gentle, and love to fall asleep in my arms or on the pillow next to mine, the idea of losing him was not even comprehensible. He is bestfriends with my dog Dallas and I cant imagine one without the other. Once I had no choice other than to accept euthanasia, I was taken back to my room by Kristin Miller, the hospital administrator, we had not met formally yet other than her passing by as I sobbed quietly in the lobby, she sat me down privately and told me how she normally did not work sundays, but believed something told her she needed to be there that Sunday, that being Frank and I, a divine intervention of sorts, as I had never gone to their ER and it was not even the one closest to my apartment, but something told me to go there that morning. She comforted me and listened to me tell him how I ended up in the hardships in recent time. She understood how much Frank means to me, hes not just another cat, he is my baby, my little bestie, I would do absolutely anything for my cat and dog. She advocated for us financially and was determined to find her own solution for us so Frank could have a chance, they called a hospital further south and told another Veterinarian our situation, he agreed to take us in and do the needed procedure and treatment/hospitalization for a price that I could afford, she went to the back to grab Frank and give him back to, I sobbed overwhelmed knowing he has a chance and she was overjoyed for me, I hugged her sobbing and thanked her profusely. Thank you to the entire team at this clinic, I am beyond grateful for the quick work and comfort you brought Frank. Kristin Miller, thank you so so so much for finding a solution for us, you are the reason Frank is alive right now, you saved me and my dog from our biggest heartbreak and a chance for another 10-15 happy years with our favorite little dude. Thank you Emerald City Emergency Clinic🩶

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Brought my cat in at 3 PM, Wasnt able to pick her up until Midnight. They gave her an injection without consulting me, for a symptom I never said she had. Took one Xray and charged me 1000! During the ENTIRE TIME my cat was there i never had one phone call to update me about her diagnosis or how she was doing. I had to call them every time and then wait for a call back. And even getting a phone call back took hours! When I left my cat there the receptionist told me it would be about an hour, and no more than 2 hours at the most before I heard from the doctor. It was more like 4 hours and I had to call them!! When I did, It was suggested I leave her over night to monitor her, give her IV fluids and that would be an additional 4 grand! To the 500 i already gave them. And the 4 grand would require a deposit. I asked how much and she said 4 thousand. Thats not a deposit! Thats paying upfront, and I was offered no alternative. I was told my cat would receive no additional medical services unless I paid the 4 grand! I wish I had known that payment was expected in full before any treatment was given. Although I did end up taking my cat home that night with no treatment given to her, the next day my cat was back to her normal self. Which leads me to believe what the doctor said was going on with my cat was an outright lie! She just wanted my cat to stay over night, do nothing for her and charge me 4 grand for it! The doctor was RUDE, I wasted my time and money and my cat was forced to be locked up in her carrier the entire time she was there,9 hours! there was never a diagnosis or any treatment given and No updates given unless I called them! This place is only about making money. The worst vetranarian hospital ever!

Thank you to the staff and vet for helping my sweet Charlie. Everyone was so kind and patient with me during the hardest moments of my life. Dr. McElroy sat with me on the floor while I cried with my girl in my arms. Thank you for your kind and gentleness Dr. McElroy, I will never forget that.

I would not go here for an animal emergency. They are extremely slow to communicate any information and disappear. I took a stray cat there to find out the microchip number which should take less than a minute. She got the microchip number then put us in a room for 30 minutes. She then proceeded to tell me that the microchip pulled up no owner information and to keep the cat, which is not the next step for trying to find a pet's owner. Thankfully, I double checked the microchip number myself and found the owner's contact information. There was not a single other person or animal in the clinic so I don't understand why it took 30 minutes to tell my incorrect information. Dont go here with an urgent pet need.

Had such an amazing experience with Jordan S. and the new receptionist (so sorry I forgot your name!). As a first-time dog owner, I had a lot of questions, and they were both incredibly kind and helpful. The receptionist gave me tips I wouldn’t have even thought to ask about, and Jordan took the time to sit with me and explain everything so clearly. Hands down the best service I’ve ever had at a vet — 10/10! And I'll keep the photo of my dog forever!

I have taken my cat here twice. They were very kind both times. Yes, it was pricy but for both cases there was nothing I could do. They are very honest.

I just got home with my cat from here, and I wanted to leave a review as soon as possible. The team was so attentive even though there were many serious cases coming in throughout the day. I was updated when necessary, and I never had a doubt she was in great hands. They were very clear about instructions with medication, what to watch for, and when to come back in for more tests if necessary. I was given the option for more testing to ease any worries, but I was not pushed at all, as I am seeing in another review. If my pets ever need emergency care again I will come back here no question. Thank for you for taking such great care of my Willow 💛

I did not have the best experience with this emergency clinic. Communication was poor—they weren’t proactive with updates, and I often felt left in the dark about my puppy’s condition. It didn’t seem like they were focused on finding the best solution for her, but rather the most expensive one. I struggled to trust that they were making decisions in her best interest. They kept her at the clinic without actually providing treatment for hours, and when we were finally able to see her, we learned she’d been given pain medication without any prior notice. She was dizzy, shivering, and looked worse than when we left her. When I asked why her condition had deteriorated, the receptionist brushed me off, saying he didn’t have a medical background—completely unhelpful and dismissive. The entire experience added unnecessary stress during an already emotional time, and I felt they were not considerate or compassionate throughout. I wouldn’t feel comfortable trusting them with my pet again.

Great staff, payment options aside from care credit and other applications don't exist even though payment plans are advertised

I went here yesterday, due to my cat having not eaten in a few days. at first the staff was very nice and accommodating, that is until they inspected her. They came back and said that she was having a lot of abdominal pain when they pressed down on her, which i found weird because she never yelped like they claim she did when i checked her in the very same way before we got there. They then quoted me 1800 for only diagnostics, and when i had a hard time stomaching that price the orange haired receptionist looks me in and said “your cat is very very sick” which truly felt like a way to scare me into just paying the price (later i read reviews of them scaring other people into paying more than they needed to for procedures their animals didn’t have to have done) I tell them I can’t pay that, they immediately present me with a new bill that’s about half the price, they again stress the urgency, I comply. after the x-ray is finshed, the doctor with the clumpy eyelashes comes in and tells me she need and emergency operation, something is stuck in her intestine, and it will cost me $5-6k. i finally get up and leave (after paying my $700 diagnostic bill) and take her to a different vet, one with better reviews that seems to be better trusted by the public. Her utuerus was infected and simply needed and emergency spay, a $1500 surgery.

I had a great experience with Emerald City Emergency Clinic. I brought my senior dog in after a few days of abnormal gastrointestinal distress. Clinic staff were responsive and kind, and our wait time was very reasonable given the fact that there were other clients waiting. Dr. Fukuzato was thorough in her exam and explained everything that needed to be assessed in detail. While it was emotional having to leave my dog overnight, staff kept me regularly informed on her condition and took great care of her. My only suggestion would be to ask clients before adding prescription food if it's not essential, but overall, I was very satisfied with our experience. I (and my dog) feel very grateful for the compassionate people who work at Emerald City Emergency!

I cannot say enough good things about Emerald City Emergency Clinic. My senior dog Dexter was brought in after vomiting blood. They took him in promptly and efficiently. I was able to wait in a small private area which made the experience less anxiety inducing. The entire staff was so kind and compassionate. The care instructions are clear and easy to follow. I can't recommend this place enough- they made a stressful experience as positive as possible.

I’ve had to bring several of my pets here and no one wants to go to the ER, but they are very knowledgeable and so wonderful! They’ve saved my pets and I couldn’t be more grateful. I think the entirety of the staff are so great and I’m so happy they are around. I’d recommend them to anyone!

As a traveling veterinarian who does not have her own clinic in town, I rely on my trusted colleagues to care for my animals. When my dog started throwing up almost daily and none of my home remedies were working to resolve the issue, I took him in to ECER for evaluation. Thankfully they had the ability to perform endoscopy of his upper gastrointestinal tract that revealed he had significant gastric ulcer. He was treated in the hospital and sent home with medications to continue treatment for the next 30 days. I’m happy to report that he’s no longer vomiting and is back to his healthy, happy self! I can’t speak highly enough about the professionalism, compassion and care that this team provides for their patients. Whenever my friends and family in Seattle ask me for a recommendation, I send them to ECER every time.

I took my cat Bode in after he was at an emergency vet clinic and it was Dr. Fukuzato who was able to determine that his bladder was full of urinary crystals. The other vet clinic did not diagnose this but wanted us to keep him there for 48+ hours at an exceedingly expensive rate. Our sweet Bode was in so much pain, but knowing that very invasive surgery was needed, Dr. Fukuzato did not pressure us in any way to proceed with surgery, we made the very hard but necessary decision to let Bode to make his way across the rainbow. Dr. Fukuzato had also helped us with another geriatric cat and had made sure we were getting the most helpful information and helping us make the best healthcare decisions for our family members. Dr. Fukuzato treats all of her pets like her own pet family members.

I had to bring my kitty in after a toxic exposure. I’ll start by saying that I’m surprised the ratings here are as low as they are because I felt it was overall a very positive experience. I called them and told them the story over the phone, where they told me immediately to come in. As soon as we arrived, they took Kitty back for initial blood work and cleaning. The vet talked over the plan with me, helped me to call ASPCA to make sure we were following expert recommendations, and told me the general plan. She brought kitty back out so I could give her some last minute cuddles. She ultimately ended up staying at Emerald City for about 48 hours and the staff were truly excellent updating me on how things were going. They called multiple times to update me on blood work and how things were looking which I really appreciated. My kitty had a bad reaction to one of the procedures and they called me right away to tell me about it and what they were doing next. They also let me come in and visit with her for a bit. It was quite an expensive weekend (3k for bloodwork, fluids, the two day stay and follow up on day 3), but I think that’s just how things are unfortunately. I would definitely take kitty back if she needed it—which hopefully she doesn’t!

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! This clinic is a money fraud operation. They scared us by claiming our dog needs surgery, kept him for 30 hours under drugs and without food despite our attempts to take him back home. Then eventually charged us $10000 without finding anything wrong or performing any major medical surgery or procedure. This was one of the worst experiences we’ve had and it left us and the dog traumatized. “Dr” Fukuzato showed no empathy or compassion, and either have no idea what she is doing, or simply is just a money hungry person. Seriously this place is a scam and needs to be closed.

Took my dog for a checkup with a stomach bug while on holiday. Was told needed a procedure- which they did scaremongering. Many thousands of dollars later issue was not resolved and my dog got better on her own. Complete rip off. Worst pet clinic I have experienced.

Doctor Fukuzato should not be working with pets or humans. I brought my dog who was vomiting and had diarrhoea. They took him and let ma know that he must be put on IV, I agreed and made a security deposit. 6 hours later I got an authorisation request for another 3500 and to approve to put him on IV? Which means he wasn’t on IV all this time? What were they doing? Later Fukuzato called me saying that on the x-ray it’s showing that there is something blocking his intestines. I asked to send me this x-ray she send me one where I couldn’t see anything. Then she called me saying he needs a surgery which will cost 10000, also she offered “since they going to open him anyway to stitch his stomach (?)”. I have no idea what is this stomach stitching and why would my dog need it, I’m assuming Fukuzato just wanted to charge us more money. 12 hours later surgery still didn’t start, night shift starts and another doctor with whom I had a better communication said they will start working at night. At 4am I got a call that the went in with endoscopy and didn’t find anything that could be blocking and no surgery needed. That was a huge relief! However in the morning when Fukuzato came back she started saying nonsense that my puppy needed more x-rays (they did 7 total) and need to spend another 24 hours in the clinic (to charge us another 10k I guess). I argued that doctor overnight said that my puppy is good and why didn’t she talk to him? Not to mention she was so rude and I could tell she only wanted to charge me more, she showed 0 empathy to me or my pup. By the way despite that the surgery was not needed they only refunded us 900$ out of that 10000$. When I was picking up my pup I had to sign the paper that I am picking up against the door recommendation. My poor pup spend 28 hours there at this point, they gave him fentanyl, he didn’t eat or drink anything there and was very scared. After I took him home he fall asleep and after he ate and drink he became like new so I have serious doubts in the professionalism of Fukuzato and especially about her ethics.

Over expensive services! Charging customers for unnecessary services just to make a quick $
02.20.2025
These guys have no idea what they are doing and almost killed my pet!

Called for an emergency question despite not being a patient, and the receptionist was so kind and quickly got the doctor’s input. Really appreciated it!
02.03.2025
Incredibly compassionate and high-quality care, especially from Tess and Dr. McElroy! This practice is small, but it is full of wonderful people who cared so well for not only my cat, but also my anxious self when I brought her in after she was having some upset tummy symptoms. Thank you so much!

Instead of informing us that they just did not have the staffing to care for our cat (JJ) during the day, they made us wait for 5 hours, while JJ was in critical condition, until their one vet (Fukuzato) could finally get back to us. At one point we asked to speak to Fukuzato again and were told, “no she said she can’t she’s too busy.” It is the company’s fault for not staffing multiple vets, but Dr. Fukuzato should’ve been able to speak to us more than once over five hours. Their overnight vet was much better, Dr. McElroy. While meeting with us the first time she suggested a more affordable hospital if emerald city’s prices were too high but we stayed bc of proximity to home. The next morning we decided to proceed w/ a blood transfusion, but price went up thousands more than they quoted us that previous night. We couldn’t remember what the cheaper hospital was that had been recommended so we asked the vet tech, but she had no information on that and said the prices would be the same everywhere. Took them hours to find the hospital we were referring to & to set up the transfer- which ended up being almost $4,000 cheaper for the blood transfusion than what emerald city was going to charge us. The vet tech told us JJ was healthy enough to transport after my partner asked to double check. Fukuzato never said differently and took hours to give our cat back. He died minutes after leaving the facility. We ended up at South Seattle vet hospital, which had much better staffing and employees available at all times but it was too late. If you have a cat you should go elsewhere.

If most the reviews are 1 star ones, chances are this place is not very good. I stopped in for an emergency visit for my pup. Dr. Fukuzato is cold and money hungry. She kept pressuring me into taking the more expensive treatment option. I declined and went elsewhere. Definitely try to avoid this place if possible.

I cannot thank your staff enough. You may not have been able to save my cat, Lumi's life, but you saved mine, with your endless patience, kindness, compassion and empathy. You had every reason to judge me, because I could not recall when his symptoms started, or any medical care I had sought or treatment for his symptoms. But, you treated me just as if I had been treating him all along (I was, I just didn't have a diagnosis.) But it was the medical information you educated me on that day, that helped confirm to me that it was cancer, when my memory returned. I know my memory loss sounds unlikely and melodramatic, but it's true. But, I always remembered that you educated me fully, with kindness - but truthfully. Your transparency showed me you prioritized quality of life over profit. That meant the world to me. The veterinary technician's kindness, her words, how she comforted Lumi - she is an angel who saved my life. When Lumi was sick, looking back, I felt like I did not provide him the medical care he deserved, because of no diagnosis. But, he did, at the end. I don't know how you saw that I had also tried so much harder than I claimed, to help him. Or intuit that his symptoms started that week, the serious things only that weekend, since I said otherwise, for those. Or maybe it just didn't matter, and I still would have received the same bedside manner if it were true. Thank you, truly. It comforts me so much that Lumi was only ever treeated with love and gentleness. Percy and the veterinary technician are angels. I wish I could thank her. Someday, I will donate the money she saved me to you. Because, the money is not why I'm grateful. It's everything you did for us.

I'll say up front, my visit here was not cheap. my partner and i drained our savings for it HOWEVER its essentially an emergency room for animals, so this was something we were prepped for going in. As for the experience itself, I could not have asked for a better group of people taking care of my cat. They gave me an itemized list of charges almost immediately, before doing anything, to make sure i could sign off on it and so I knew what I was paying for. The vet herself was kind, knowledgable, and super helpful -- even going so far as to suggest certain pharmacies to save some money on meds. I showed up with a worryingly sick cat, and by the time he was discharged his fever had broke and he was back to himself, with a new prescription to keep him healthy, thanks to the incredible care of the staff. Worth mentioning, i was there in the very early hours of the day, showed up at like 3 30 am and was dischrged at 6 30, and everyone was still incredibly happy and alert to help my sweet boy. If you can afford the emegency fees and have a pet that needs help, highly recommend

I brought my 7 year old cat here after he seemed to be throwing up after eating food for a day. Some of the reviews are very dire, which is understandable because people are very anxious about their pets when it's an emergency. Overall I'd say my experience was good. Dr. Danielle Jefferey, was good. She has a very caring and sympathetic manner and we had a good discussion around how to treat my cat. I think your pet will be in good hands with her. Some improvements could be some of the front staff who seemed a little brusque or cold. I would have liked to have had an initial examination of my pet with the doctor first. And the final treatment was changed without my knowledge (ie, my cat came home still partially sedated. The original treatment was to reverse the sedation). So when I took my cat out of his carrier he was in a state which I've never seen him before, that is, partially sedated. Ultimately, my cat was fine once the sedation wore off, but I think it was definitely a negative that I was not warned about that in advance, or given the option to accept or decline a change in his treatment. I also would have like to have spoken very briefly with the doctor for 2 or 3 minutes upon picking up my cat but did not have the opportunity, as the nurse brought my cat. I understand emergency clinics can be quite busy, however that is one improvement they could make. Overall, the clinic is good but can benefit from some improvements around patient communication.

Ive never written a negative review before so this is not something I would regularly do but feel it’s necessary in this case. Had one of the roughest experiences here with my cat under Fukuzato's care that resulted in a very painful and traumatic death of my animal that was entirely avoidable and would not wish on anyone to experience. Since this day, I’ve read about private equity’s buying out animal hospitals trying to understand and make sense of what happened that day and why the hospital took such an unapologetic stance in the aftermath. This hospital was bought out by a private equity years ago and is owned by the Desmarais family who is worth close to $10 Billion. These PE owned vet clinics prioritize profit above all else, if you haven’t read about this I highly suggest you do. In summary, I was there for nearly five hours (which turned out to be very crucial time) waiting patiently on the staff for communication about a transfer. Waited 2 hours before seeing the vet the first and only time. Was refused to be seen by her again as she was too busy. Was told by the vet tech my cat was healthy enough to be safely transferred. Was never told any differently. Paid close to six thousand dollars, and then watched my cat die in pain on my lap in the car right outside the hospital. I empathized with the staff that day as they were obviously extremely busy and understaffed and felt that vet techs were doing the best they could under the circumstances. However, in the aftermath we felt our direct concerns were not taken seriously at all or even addressed (still aren’t, none of the concerns here are addressed in the hospitals response below) which adds so much insult to injury as the medical review they performed had no information about the timing things took that day or the information and lack there of that was actually communicated. I immediately responded to incorrect information in their review, with proof, and never received a reply or explanation. They stated in a round about way that they were always available for communication and were waiting on me for decisions over these five hours which is not only incorrect but so hurtful to hear after being so patient with them during what was obviously a very busy and rough day. Any cameras at the hospital will confirm that I was waiting on the staff at this hospital from noon to nearly 5pm this day which turned out to be very crucial time for my cats survival. Have had animals our entire lives, have had to put some down before. Never had an end in this way while under professional care, and will always regret his last moments were in pain. Every clinic and their vets we’ve worked with we’ve loved in the past and this was just so blatantly different than anything we’ve ever experienced before.

They acted quickly to stabilize my cat during a heart failure/ stroke, took care of transferring her to another clinic that could provide more support, and only charged me half of their original estimate when they determined she would need to be transferred. My cat is now recovering, much thanks to the team!

I’m not sure how to feel about this place. The tech (or whoever answered the door & did check out) was very nice. I didn’t feel like the male vet was interested in listening to me. The price was insane, nearly $800 for diagnostics. They quoted me over $700 for bloodwork for one animal, I followed up with a normal vet the next day and they charged less than $200. But they did give my pet the right treatment/diagnosis and I didn’t have to wait so it wasn’t the worst. They didn’t do a great job explaining why we should do various tests & xrays but they also didn’t guilt trip me for declining the blood work. I’d go back in a pinch but I may consider other options.

They provided excellent medical advice and care. My cat vomited a couple times, but was still perky. I called them about whether my cat needed to come in or if he could wait for his vet the next day. They gave me excellent instructions to keep a close eye on him, but to bring him in if he keeps vomiting. He vomited again. I drove in. Less than 15 min later the vet comes in to tell me that she heard abnormal heart sounds, so she ran an ECG which came back abnormal. They don't have cardiology, so she advised me to take him to a nearby hospital with on call cardiology services and echocardiography. Less than an hour later I am already almost at another hospital with cardiac services. She didn't even charge me because she "didn't do a full exam". Their clinic may be small, but they are a great first step. Even if they do not have the resources to treat your pet, they will definitely promptly point you towards the right direction. It was much easier to figure out where to go from there. If the exam was normal, I would have avoided a long wait at another ER. Thanks!

I called because my dog was having an emergency at 2am and they were so rude over the phone I decided not to go in person. Posting this so that I don't forget to never come here.

Staff are helpful and kind, despite what we understand to be a heavy workload. We felt safe and that our cat was being cared for every moment he was there, despite multiple other patients coming in with urgent emergencies while we waited. Thanks, vet heroes!
07.30.2024
I have been so impressed by the care at this clinic. I went here for an emergency laceration on my puppy’s leg and I was treated with compassion and patience. I hope never need to go again but glad to have them nearby in case I do.
07.28.2024
I’m not sure I would go back here. The tech assistant was really nice but overall everything seemed quite disorganised and when I got to talk to the Doctor she was very vague in her diagnosis of my dog and seemed as though she was in a rush. The whole thing felt very sales pitched to try and get as much money from me as possible. Not sure if this was a “weekend crew” thing or if they are always like that. People have recommended them in the past so I hope it was just a fluke experience.

Dr.McElroy and her team were amazing!! We were recommended this clinic by a friend and rushed here when our pup started to pee blood (tip: do not over exercise your dog!). We called ahead since our dog is fear reactive and they gave us clear recommendations on the medication dose we should give him prior to the visit to ease his anxiety. Once we got there the staff took great care of us, put us into a waiting room immediately and we were quickly seen. They had to do an x-ray and even a blood draw. To preface, my dog has trouble even at his regular vet to get vaccines and blood tests and they did it no problem. We were SHOOK! They were so gentle and patient with him and couldn't thank them enough. He had to stay overnight, but we were confident he was in good hands. By the time we picked him up, he stopped peeing blood and was doing so much better. Dr. McElroy even gave us a call the next day to check in on how our dog was doing. Great care! Can't recommend them enough.

Took my dog here late on a Thursday evening for unknown anaphylaxis. The team was very kind and responsive. The vet was very patient in explaining possible root causes and offering a variety of options for treatment. Later when symptoms worsened and we had to rush back, we were treated with the same kindness and care. Any emergency vet visit will end up costing money. I felt their pricing was fair and didn't feel pressured into any decisions.
07.12.2024
My sweet corgi was hit and killed by a car and not knowing what to do, we brought him to ecec. They took care of everything for us, treated us so well and were so understanding. They even held his collar for an extended period of time just to make sure we got it back if we wanted it then bc we could not at the time of his cremation make a straight choice bc of course when your dog has just died, your brain like shuts down. They also sent us an amazing card, paw prints and some fur along with his ashes. Worst day of my life but at least the staff were kind and helpful and loving.

PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR SICK PET HERE. I have never written a negative review of anything before but I cannot stress more aggressively how awful this place is. I showed up at 10pm with my dog who was at the vet earlier and I was told she had giardia and an upper respiratory infection. I took her to emerald city emergency, they sat me in a room and then the vet came in, she was abrasive, pushy, and seemed a little annoyed. They wanted to do a more thorough look into what the previous vet had done. It was $1500. I hesitantly agreed because I knew my dog was unwell, it was night time I had been at a different vet all day and I wasn't sure where else to go and i felt pressured into a decision quickly. They call me 2 hours later with 0 new information and I come to pick up my dog and she looks so much worse. she has obviously peed on herself a little and she looks extremely unwell. They do not send a copy of my receipt or the service until i called back at 4 am in a panic because I had found my dog covered in pee and throwing up. I call them back panicked and they send the forms right over and say i need to bring her back which i refused and they gave me the number to Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG). I went to VEG (they are the best please take your pet there instead) at VEG i learned that my dog had none of the things told to me by the first vet or confirmed by emerald city. She has a whole host of other things. The TLDR of this is, TAKE YOUR PET TO VETERINARY EMERGENCY GROUP INSTEAD it is not much further away and same in cost if not less. Emerald city made me spend $1500 on an incorrect confirmation of an incorrect diagnosis. They did absolutely nothing but make me uncomfortable, freak out my dog and cost me a lot of money that i needed for the rest of thousands I am spending on my dogs care. I sincerely hope this place closes and that the people working here find another career because they're not in it for the right reasons and they dont do a good job. Please please learn from my mistake, I do not know how this place has 3.5 stars I sincerely hope this review cautions others from coming here. If I could give it -5 i would.

The experience was top notch. I have a kitty who is unwell and every staff member and interaction felt very thoughtful, deliberate and caring. Highly recommend.
05.20.2024
We were very happy with the interactions we had with all staff and vets during our cat’s multi day stay! We were always able to reach someone right away when we called for updates and the doctors explained everything clearly and patiently. It felt like they truly care and I felt confident that our cat was receiving frequent and appropriate assessment as well as being treated with compassion.
04.14.2024
We brought both our cats in for an accidental lily exposure and they took such amazing care of our cats! They were very clear when explaining what would be the best treatment, and took the time to call and give updates to their recovery progress. We got to visit during the 48 hour period and we could tell our cats were in such good, caring, loving hands and they really went out of their way to make sure our cats were comfortable and given affection in the vet environment. They saved our kitties’ lives and we cannot be more grateful

I took my cat in due to a urinary blockage and so appreciative of the care and empathy of the staff at Emerald City. They worked with me as much as possible to be able to keep treatment in my price range and this is not an experience I have had at a vet before. I will absolutely recommend this clinic to all of my friends and family. The clinic was so busy, yet they still went out of their way to ensure my cat got the treatment he needed while working within my budget. They truly care and will do what they can to help every patient!

I can only speak to my experience at Emerald City Emergency Clinic, but I have no bad words to say about all of the staff and veterinarians here. On a Friday night, I noticed my cat was vomiting. My partner and I took her to a pet clinic where they referred us to Emerald City. This was the only place open nearby. We dropped off our cat and before any additional work, was provided with very easy to read cost breakdowns depending on the severity of her condition. As this was during peak covid, the person over the phone was very helpful and answered any additional questions we had in regards to costs. After confirming payment, my cat was further inspected (x-rays and bloodwork). I was then provided with a call about the severity, and needed to provide confirmation of the procedure they would be performing. After the procedure, I was then given another call and updated on my cat's condition. Mind you, all of this occurred in the late night/early hours, around 1-4 am (very dedicated and transparent staff). Later that morning/afternoon, I was given multiple calls throughout the day about my cat's condition before I was able to pick her up. Throughout all steps of the way, everyone was so kind, caring, and patient with me. People provided me a lot of comfort and I felt like they went the extra mile to help with my worries.

avoid this place! they refused to send me my cat medical record
01.29.2024
If you want your loved one to live longer & better, then avoid this place!!!! My heart shatters as I recount the agony of watching my beloved cat suffer at Emerald. In the morning, he had a seizure, and I rushed him there, only to endure five excruciating hours of neglect. No calls, no action. When we finally brought him home, he seized again. At 7 pm, Emerald nonchalantly informed me of an erroneous asthma diagnosis. My poor cat missed crucial treatment time and passed away the next day, and I wasted $2400 on their incompetence. I'm livid at the reckless misdiagnosis that robbed my pet of timely care. Emily Fukuzato is so unprofessional and she knows nothing. AVOID this place.

I don't understand all the bad reviews about having to wait in a car for hours during the pandemic... it's an emergency clinic... Wait times will vary depending on the day and during the pandemic all Seattle area vets had a wait in car policy and would only take your animal inside. Anyhow we unfortunately visited a few times last week for our dog Lola. The front desk, techs, and vet were quick to help, informative, and super friendly. They talked about the treatment plan and estimates before doing anything I may not have been comfortable with. We had to leave our dog Lola for an extended period and they called me multiple times with updates and answered any questions I had. I have been to other emergency clinics multiple times but decided to try this one and i'm really glad I did. If any of my animals ever need it I will be returning here in the future. Thanks for taking care of Lola :)

Answered my call on the first ring and gave me great info on how to monitor my dog after she drank my hot chocolate
11.18.2023
I called them over the phone to determine whether or not I should bring my dog in, they were both clear and efficient in answering my questions. They gave very detailed responses and it didn't feel rushed like most animal ERs usually do, which was very nice! Additionally, they were able to accommodate my dog reactive dog. They were wary in protecting his trust with the vets. Staff was very friendly, mindful, and patient. Going here was a fantastic change of pace from my usual vet experiences with my sometimes high strung and very loud dog. I would highly recommend them for anyone with a sensitive dog or who just wants a higher quality of care for their pet :) Something to note is they don't have a parking lot, and so it is street parking only. It's an RPZ area. ETA: I did not read any of the reviews before I went here, and am not sure what's going on with people's negative experiences but the staff I interacted with today were truly great.
11.10.2023
We really appreciate everything they did for our kitty. They called multiple times a day with updates and I could call at any time to check in. We know they did everything they could for our sweet girl.

Tonight, Dooney Bromberg Lions, my 17-year-old Chorkie, went to heaven at this kind and considerate clinic. We always hope our lovely pets can pass peacefully in their sleep at home in their favorite bed but that's not usually the case. I'm so glad they were open and available for us. This is a photo of him happily running through a local park summer 2023🥰. RIP my love.

just got home from this vet and couldn’t recommend a vet more. I wish they weren’t just emergency so I could bring my cats here for check ups. I’ve never felt more comfortable putting my cats in the hands of strangers. Truly love and appreciate them so much ❤️

These guys are so amazing thank you for helping us out when we had to put our old girl down and having compassion for our situation you guys rock

I have never met a more rude, argumentative, unhelpful, and provocative veterinary clinic employee in my life. She was rude to every person not being provided service, and this tried to interrogate me about a lost/stray little dog. "How do do know it was abandoned? Did you see it happen? I need to know! How do you know it has a chip?" Me: I was told. It doesn't matter in the end. My stepdaughter was wrong. Who cares? Just grab the device for checking and get it over with. Why stand there in front of clients and try to debate when a solution could be reached. Thankfully, a client was there that posted on Facebook. The dog was reunited with her owner. The Good Samaritan lady should be working there. She was kind, unlike the staff at this facility. I would not trust Satan nor his demonic comrades, let alone violent serial felons in their care. I even looked her in the eyes and said, "You really are a difficult person." She just stood silent and stared. That apparently is the one way to shut her up. You should have seen her being rude to the woman before me! She feigned ignorance for barely searching for the poor woman. She had been waiting for hours to get her cherished pet seen. She must be a very lonely person. Get help elsewhere. These people are NOT going to care for your dog. Please do not take your pets here. Go where they have souls and don't act like empathy is foreign to them, like a curse word.

Responsive and caring but do not respect asks to minimize expenses. I took my geriatric dog there as he was having trouble breathing. They did a great job of bringing him in, communicating with me, and caring for him. I told them palliative care only and to minimize costs. They gave him oxygen and antibiotics (good), but also a bunch of anti-nausea meds I never needed or used, plus tests that didn’t help. Total cost for about 8 hours of care was about $3500. I’ve talked to others with similar situations and they think I got gouged, so I figured I’d write this review as a warning.

Sold to a Canadian corporation, but staff are doing their best in an unforgiving industry. If you have to wait or get turned away, just be glad your pet is not critical.
